(Saturday, July 6, 2013) We walked to the corner of Van Ness and Lombard to catch the bus, got off at California to catch the cable car to Chinatown. I must admit that compared to NY Chinatown, SF Chinatown is cleaner and better organized. After Dim Sum, we spend the whole morning going in and out of the shops along Grant Avenue.
We stopped and watched fortune cookies being made at Golden Gate Fortune Cookies Company (56 Ross Alley).
One a sad note: we walked by a restaurant with a big screen television outside and saw a large group of people seemed to be just standing around. My husband commented, "This place must have really good food for people to waiting in long line." Then we realized the reason these people gathered around was to watch the news about the plane crash (Korean Airlines) at SF International Airport.
It was one of those moments we would never forget if we were asked, "Where were you when ......?"
