FRIDAY SKY - THIS TOO SHALL PASS

What a week! St. Louis and the Midwest survived severe winter storm that brought freezing drizzle/rain/sleet/snow to the region. We were so thankful that there was no major power outage or any serious property damage. The days before, I filled up water into as many containers as I could find, checked the emergency flash lights and got out extra blankets, just in case. We sure did not have this kind of luxury when we prepared for our boat journey escaped from Viet Nam back in April 1979!
The backyard looked so beautiful covered with a blanket of snow but the frozen rain hanging from the roof of the patio made me so nervous when I was waiting for my husband to get home.
For now, things are sort-of back to normal. Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog, did not see his shadow, so it was predicted that spring is on its way. But it will be 6 more weeks of cold temperature, snow, and possible another winter storm. Perhaps I should post photos from our Route 66 adventure last summer when it was 116 degrees while driving thru Nevada and the Mojave Desert in California!
