GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL

Hello from my corner in St. Louis …

I am sure you all have seen destructive images and enough negative news stories reportedly coming from St. Louis.  I chose not to be one of those “wannabe” reporters or those trying to post pictures on their social media to prove that they were part of the “actions” or to get a few “likes” on their webpage.  I chose these good and beautiful images (from the Missouri Botanical Garden) because I believe if you could not contribute to make it better, at least try not adding to the problems.

Family and friends have been sending words asking about our well-being in STL.  The current situation (in North county) does not directly impact where we live which is in West county area.  However, my office building is located two blocks from the Prosecutor’s office.  It was a very tense and stressful time for all of us.  My office closed around 3pm on Monday prior to the announcement of the decision.  The next two days, I went to work and the area was quiet, different from what you might see on national news.  My husband works outside of St. Louis, so the situation does not directly impact his workplace.

Let’s pray for peaceful days ahead …

HAPPY NEW YEAR (I AM LAUGHING WITH YOU, NOT AT YOU)

I am not laughing at you, I am laughing with you.  As the old saying, “Laughter is the best medicine”, let’s celebrate the new year with the best medicine of belly-shaking laughs.

Let’s also remember to “laugh something off” when someone acting like an idiot or making stupid comments.  My wishes to you in the coming years that you will have the mental and physical strength to overcome all the difficulties come your way and that you will have the love and support of families and friends to help you reach your goals/hopes/dreams.

I never care for the expression, “Laugh and the world laughs with you; weep (cry) and you weep (cry) alone”.  Here is my version (and it is a better version), “Laugh and the world (or those around you) might wonder what you are up to; go ahead and cry if you must, only those who really care about you and those who really matter to you, would cry with you”.

Thank you for laughing with me (through my little boring blog) and thank you for allowing me to laugh with you (reading your stories).

Happy New Year and Best Wishes in the coming years!

FRIDAY SKY - HAPPY LAST FRIDAY OF 2013

Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge / Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge – Nevada/Arizona – July 8, 2013.

I thought these photos from our recent road trip would be fitting for this post – Friday Sky – the last Friday of the year.

There was nothing special about today being the last Friday of 2013.  No one said “seeing you next year” because most of the people will be working the first part of next week, or at least on Monday the 30th.  Some people have to work the full 8-hour schedule on Tuesday the 31st.  Of course, most businesses are open on Jan. 1st, especially restaurants and department stores.

It was in the upper 50s and sunny.  I actually did not need a jacket when I went out during lunch time.  The weatherman says it would get cold on Sunday and next week we will be back to normal winter temperature.

I read in the Parade Magazine that originally the practice of making New Year’s resolutions wasn’t initially timed to new year.  It actually started in the pre-Christian era with the Babylonians, later grew in the Roman empire.  Statistically, the rate of people achieving their goals is only 8 percent.  Did you make any new year’s resolutions?  Will you be in the 92 percent of people not keeping their promises or the special 8 percent?
