THURSDAY RAMBLINGS (THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS)

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas.  Did Santa bring you all the presents you asked for?  My Santa was again very generous.  I got a new camera – a Canon PowerShot ELPH13015 and a nice gold Rolex watch – just kidding, it was a “thoughtful” aka inexpensive Pulsar watch – haa haa!!!

This year we enjoyed a relaxing Christmas eve (on Tuesday).  There was no rushing around.  It worked out great that we finished making all the pierogies and an apple pie on Monday.  In previous years, everything had to be done on Christmas eve because my husband could not get off work the day before.

For the pierogies, we usually make two different fillings - sauerkraut/onion and potatoes.  This year, we keep the traditional sauerkraut, but no potatoes, and added two new fillings – mushroom in one batch (about a dozen) and cheese in the other.

We attended midnight Mass at the new Cathedral (on Lindell).  Last year we had lot of snow, the wind was blowing, and we had to park two blocks away.  This year, no snow, no wind, mild winter temperature and we found a parking spot in the lot next to the Cathedral.  We did not get home until 0200 hours and finally went to bed at almost 0300 hours.

What are your plans for the New Year?
